CHARACTER
NAME(S): Eve Brea
AGE: Fifteen - mentally, emotionally and physically.
The age above is more of a canonical estimate than an established chronological age. On a technicality, evidenced by a note Aya finds on Eve's X-rays, Eve Brea is only fifteen months old at the time of the second games events. The physiological evidence meanwhile, leads a confused Aya to conclude that Eve would be ten years old -- at least. Taking the physiological point into consideration, I've chosen to use Aya's estimate, adding an additional five years onto that number so the age falls inline with an exact halfway point between PE2 and it's spin-off sequel.

CANON: Parasite Eve (Main game series)
Five years post Parasite Eve 2. At this point the some of the events prior to Parasite Eve 3 have taken place, but have NOT yet culminated in making Parasite Eve 3's prologue a reality. This in turn means that Eve's status is grounded in the main series and not the universe that defines the spin-off.

WORLD HISTORY: Parasite Eve | Parasite Eve II | Third Birthday
Unlike Twighlight Town or Penrose, Parasite Eve is set in less whimsical world, where magic itself has little meaning other than clever trickery. People work 9 to 5 jobs supporting families and loved ones. Kids play video games and watch cartoons on leisurely Sunday mornings. Cities all around the world are connected through the internet, and everyone, a mix of six seven billion people, live and die without being able to harness any supernatural power. Of course, Parasite Eve does follow a force that could be considered akin to magic, but to truly bring context to that world and that exact mythos, you have to go back and look at something that shaped this world very early on, at the beginning of life itself: mitochondria.

Mitochondria are in essence, tiny, little organs found within the membrane of every single cell in the human body. They are essential to sustain life, not just for humans, but every multi-celled organism on the planet. With mitochondria, people, animals and even plant life can turn nutrients and usable energy into cell-food, whilst without; each cell will have no ability to make or synthesize this 'food' - and die. All life depends on this conversion. No exceptions. But they weren't always a part of Parasite Eve's animal kingdom (or ours for that matter). There was a time when the Earth was still young, still one big continent instead of several. Before there were humans or animals, or life any more complicated than a series of ocean dwelling amoeba. A time where mitochondria swam separate from the oceanic organisms and primordial soup around them. A time where they were unique, not only because they were able to utilize more than just photosynthesis to make energy, but due to their nature as a hivemind of concious beings.

They watched the other organisms swim by for the longest of time, but as intuitive as they were, instinctively recognized evolutionary competition when they began witnessing it. Deciding to take a more opportunistic approach, to steer their own evolutionary path toward an 'ultimate being', they created a symbiotic bond via infiltrating the burgeoning organisms around them. The goal of one day creating a bigger, better form for themselves, was set in motion, and the plan was simple; two steps. Step 1: Taking advantage of their size, Mitochondria pierced the cells' membranes and destroyed whatever conversion mechanism the cells formerly used to synthesize food. Step 2: Stealthily planting a few back door proteins and enzymes within the new hosts' nuclei, they would control the infiltrated cells from the inside. The organisms could now thrive on more than the sun alone, but in return, the intelligent and strategic hijackers would be able to one day take over the cell, asserting their own DNA and giving their hosts directions, instead of simply getting a free ride within. With enough patience and a little luck, future generations of mitochondria could commandeer a more satisfactory form, evolved enough to use to their advantage. After which, their penultimate goal to create a powerful race all their own, would be reached.

To this end, they waited as millions of years passed by. The large land mass split and floated into several continents. The small organisms crawled out of the primordial soup and natural selection began to dictate which variant would live and thrive, and which would die off. Some of those organisms grew legs, eyes, scales and fur, each feature varying and improving with every millenia that passed. Mitochondria meanwhile, sat by obligingly, continuing to convert nutrients into cellular food and energy, cleverly passing their own genetic information from mother to offspring. Climbing the evolutionary chain faster and more efficient than ever before, dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes soon began roaming the earth.

Unfortunately, even though the mitochondria were impressed with those not-so-gentle giants, the beasts would meet an untimely end thanks to a wayward comet. An unexpected end, true, but an important lesson none the less, a lesson that brain was jast as important than brawn in survival terms. It was now the apes turn to impress, and boy did they get interesting when they began to use tools, lose their hair and walk upright. Humans they called themselves. Humans learned to walk and communicate, to create religions, economies and inventive ways to control their follow man. They also created bloody wars every decade or so. Not very nice creatures, but pretty damned adaptable ones. Unlike the other dead ends, humans were quickly reaching their potential. Man, mitochondria had decided, would be their best option to create a race of their own. Patient to a fault, all mitochondria had to do was, wait for just the right opportunity and individual, to assert their own genome and  fulfil their own penultimate goals.

Fast forward to Japan (circa 1950) where the first recorded incident of such an insurrection happened: a precursor event to Parasite Eve. Enter Kiyomi Nagashima, the first recognized mitochondrial host. Her mitochondria awoke when she was a child, but it took many years for them to slowly take over her body. Eventually it was so proficient in doing so, that her mitochondria could finally, FINALLY come up with a plan to create an 'Ultimate Being' for their new race. They manipulated the people around the host, had her kill herself under their possession, and then tried to create a zygote through a proxy body (a young female recipient of Kiyomi's kidney.) The 'Ultimate Being' however, came with one fatal flaw. The mitochondria passed from the father's sperm fought against the ones passed from Eve's ovum. The birthed infant quickly deteriorated into a puddle of goo, right in front of its 'mother' and a select few of terrified and hapless witnesses.

With little fanfare, humanity found itself safe again - at least temporarily. Japan breathed a sigh of relief. The international community never caught wind of what could have been a human extermination en mass. Only Mariko, the recipient and survivor, would truly know what went on that night, but even she burried the truth in favor of a normal life. Three decades passed without incident, quiet on all fronts, until the events of the first Parasite Eve took place.

Christmas Eve, 1997 is when the first game starts. Most people by this point have come to live in collectivized cities, towns and other dwellings, working together, working the land and suffering the 'daily grind' to carve a life for themselves. Technologically speaking, most of these people enjoy a good standard of education, living unlike any generation before it. They utilize electricity, get a fulfilling education in multiple ways, and often entertain themselves by watching or listening to popular media. They can even use the world wide internet, a connection of tubes networks that allow computers to communicate each other, to get instantanous answer to any question they could conceivably ask.

A small drop in the ocean though, when science itself is booming, millions of researchers working on projects of all sorts. From curing cancer, to sustainable ways of living, to finding out what happens when you send spiders into space. The United States of America by that time, had a monopoly on researchers, in addition to other things. By 1997 they were a super power among the world's nations, far outpacing any other in terms of technology, economical strength and sheer fire power, even when the U.N (United Nations - An international body for world peace and prosperity amongst the richest and poorest of countries) didn't like it. American's had been through a civil war, a cold war, even wars in a far away countries... and they hadn't done so without bringing their fair share of firepower to the table.

Complete with a robust government, the United States of America was good at creating a well looked after military, and like many super powers before it, it spent a great deal of effort keeping itself in power. The weapons it created were lethal, from the simple firearm shooting deadly projectiles, to bombs, devices with the potential of wiping out cities. Classified satellites in space (Such as a Hyper velocity Gun) were scarier still, capable of harnessing heat and kinetic energy for the purpose of unleashing a deadly beam anywhere on the planet. Humans were such crafty creatures, capable of not only mass murder, but self-destruction, and mitochondria knew it was only a matter of time before they wiped each other out. Luckily for them, humans were also making great strides in their medical feats. It wasn't going to be long before the sperm issue could be bypassed with artificial aid.

Which is the reason why on Christmas Eve, New York's Manhattan Island saw a much more evolved, deadlier strain of mitochondria emerge, one little mitochondrial host figured out that Dr. Hans Klamp had exactly the right artificial sperm to suit their purpose. This host was Melissa Pearce, who, possessed by the force calling itself 'Eve', clamoured at the chance to be the Ultimate Being's mother. Aya Brea, daughter of the Japanese kidney recipient, another woman with self-aware mitochondria, was not going to let this happen.

What resulted was six days of hell. Aya Brea, a woman immune to mitochondrial possesion, fought bravely, destroying the newly conscious form of Eve and its progeny, finishing off the swarms of monsters crawling through the city. During that time, she learned of the incident in Japan through Kunihiko Maeda (A Japanese scientist) and saved countless lives, using abilities no one ever thought possible thanks to her unique biology.

In the wake of the sixth night, New York had a hard time recovering from the week long rise of Eve (aka the N.Y Blockade Incident). Over a thousand lives were lost, the famed Statue of Liberty decimated, and the worst of all, civilization was in a battle with... itself... the integrity of the human body starting to appear less fundamentally solid. The public were not made aware of this, but it became clear to the several dozen authorized scientists, that mitochondria wanted to reach the top of the food chain. Calling the new strains 'Neo-mitochondria' and tagging creatures Melissa had created as NMC's (Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures) the scientists declared that a new, silent war was brewing.

M.I.S.T. (Mitochondrial Investigation and suppression Team) was the governments solution, a secretive arm of the F.B.I. that dealt with any and all mutated creatures that survived...scattered... and bred. Which is why Aya Brea followed, moving to Los Angeles to be closer to the M.I.S.T Headquarters, using her capabilities to fight fire against fire. Killing mutants and keeping things in check was their game, but like Pandora's box, what was open could not be unopened. The greedy still poked around in files they had no business in. The power-hungry never stopped wondering if they could take advantage of this new and exciting biological discovery. It didn't take very long before that very scenario created the perfect storm.

Three years on from the New York City Incident and several powerful and shady figures acquire a bunker deep in the heart of the Mojave desert. Alongside it, a little desert town by the name of Dryfield. Both locations, the bunker and the desolate town of Dryfield are where Parasite Eve 2 is primarily centered. This bunker itself, renamed Neo-Ark, had been converted into a research facility by men who wanted to find a way to harness the evolutionary potential of neo-mitochondria. Their goal was to 'revitalize the human race through their vision of planned evolution', with themselves at the helm. This was dubbed the 'Second Neoteny Plan' and that plan consisted of three steps. Step one, they needed to obtain a sample of neo-mitochondria with a power equal to or greater than that found in the N.Y. incident. Step two, administer samples to as many test subjects as they could get, redesigning the subjects' genetic profile to explore evolutionary possibilities within multiple breeds of what they would call Artificial Neo-Mitochondrion Creatures, a Neo-mitochondrial creature with special augments. Step three: global dominance through adapting the process on a global scale.

Step one was easy enough, however step two was plagued by failures, subjects either melting into gelatinous goo or mutating beyond control. Taking a step back, the decision was made to attempt cellular repression by using clones from Aya Brea's DNA. Once achieved, the higher ups then started work on the third step: creating a giant neo-mitochondrial gene factory that could spread it's contents worldwide.

Called in once again, Aya Brea, followed by P.I. Kyle Madigan (a government spy in actual fact), fought her way through the facility, through the clones defences and inevitably through the creature within the chrysalis, saving mankind and uncovering the mystery of Neo-Ark and its benefactors.

In the aftermath, the prologue states that Aya Brea adopted Eve, her own clone, as a sister. She moved back to New York which was still a bustling city, and helped her partners, new and old, to track down anyone who might become host to Neo-Mitochondria. Here is where the world diverges and becomes a little more confusing. Canonically, things go smoothly for humanity until 2010, back in NYC Manhattan, when Aya's wedding reception turns into a blood bath. This event leaves Aya Brea with amnesia, but it affects the world at large too. Mysterious monsters begin appearing. Given the name Twisted, and High-Ones ( A twisted monster with sentience and intelligence), top scientists work on finding out what those monsters are, how they came to be and how they could be destroyed. To no avail, all the biologists can come up with is throwing advanced weaponry at them, watching on as their numbers climb, as otherworldly structures come into being. Giant towers known as Babel's (named after the tower of Babel) spring up from the ground, while the Twisted begin to fan out, effecting the better portion of America, then other nearby nations. Within a year, the whole world is teaming with them.

To counter this, the same scientists decide to employ Aya Brea as a CTI agent, another arm of the FBI and an acronym for Counter Twisted Investigations. Entering a machine, one of many that the world seems to have produced with it's advanced technology, Aya (Or rather Eve in Aya's body) can go back in time, destroy the Babel towers and astral project into the bodies of others. It is apparently possible in this reality, to alter the past, trying to protect the future.

Why, you may ask... Well the Third Birthday, which mentions nothing about mitochondria, at all, relies on explanations of a more quasi-supernatural nature. It's world centers on monsters that are soul shards and part of a persons essence able to time travel. This leaves many questions that as far as most fans can tell, cannot be scientifically explained in game, or with the documents the player can earn. 'Just because', is the general consensus, and so it's a little hard to mesh both together.

However, in the Remixed world neither the Twisted, Babel towers or body swapping happen in a realistic context. Instead of evil monsters popping up out of nowhere, it's all one persons dream, and the real world exists outside of that false reality. People who died in the first attack never die, being just a construct of a very active imagination. Scientists and Biologists focus on other projects as there are no monsters or giant deadly towers leaching through time and space. The cohesion between nations remains as good, or as shaky as they were prior to 2010 and life goes on as it did in 1997, more or less. Technology improves. Relationships grow and fall apart. Some of the same problems like poverty exist, while others are on the verge of being solved. A new president is elected. New York builds another large skyscraper and M.I.S.T is more or less disbanded.

Only Eve Brea, clone of Aya, really feels the difference. Before she even has the chance to see her 17th birthday, puberty finally catches up with her. Instead of fighting for humanity, trying to save the world in Aya's body, she's stuck in her own mind, living in an uncomfy hospital bed. The reality for her is that she is catatonic, like several other people in the same hospital, only she's the only one having such livid dreams.

BACKGROUND HISTORY: Eve Brea
Eve wasn't born. Eve Brea was created, manipulated and grown inside one of the 'Neo-Ark' facility's large artificial wombs. Inside that womb, which was no more than a complicated glass chamber tied to a metal base by a series of connecting wires and tubes, she grew from zygote to infant in two very short months. Her handlers were overjoyed. After three failures, a mountain of paper work, and thousands upon thousands of dollars wasted, the scientists within the Neo-Ark finally had themselves a workable, obidient little clone from Aya's DNA. She was a success, a way for the scientists to utilize her mitochondrial based abilities as well as the Artificial Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures sans threat of rebellion.

Among those scientists, Doctor John Poole was especially proud -- of himself. It was he who had taken over from the head researcher Doctor Fredrick Bowman, converting the previously uncontrollable 'Golem Soldiers' into an internal security team (led by the monstrosity known only as 'Nine'). It was also Poole who headed the clone project and took exclusive credit for the 'gene-factory concept' which Eve was to become a part of. The facilities benefactors were elated. The mitochondrial gene-factory protected by the chrysalis fitted to the lab was his greatest creation. He would also liase with the facilities benefactors, updating them on the smallest of changes and constantly filling their heads with his goals. He hoped he could merge Eve with the gene-factory, combining her obedient mind with the larger organism's power. He hoped... at least. The benefactors nodded in agreement every time..

Eve herself wouldn't be told of these plans, but she grew up fast, becomming exactly what they wanted. They created cognitive tests and expected her to exceed their expectations. They compared physical milestones on a chart and added new challenges each time she had just started to master the previous one. Even her Social and Emotional development was coaxed into the realm of regression, all for the purpose of keeping her docile and submissive. It almost worked too well. She used very few words when talked to, purposefully avoided touch and often relied on books, drawings and a stuffed bear for comfort. The Pavlovian inspired conditioning process was molding the young charge into a subservient biological regulator indeed.

By the time she was 15 months old- 10 years of age in appearance - Eve made a good subordinate, managing to control a range of 'monsters' via a helmet shaped amplifier. She then started supplying power to Poole's very own 'neotinized gene factory', an instrumental part of his 'superior final goal'. But, just as everything seemed to be going smoothly, the amount of Artificial Neo-Mitochondrion Creatures within Neo-Ark reached unmanageable levels. When this happened, the scientists weren't yet completely prepared with another clone to help control the expanding repertoire of creatures, nor did they have a workable contingency plan. They were in trouble, and Eve witnessed it from the front lines.

Reacting quickly, attempting to escape a situation in which both the scientists and the Artificial Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures had become an immediate danger, Eve's instincts took over. She did what any self preserving creature would do; she created a barrier between herself and whatever person, monster or force she could not control. Anyone else still alive was either forced to flee from barrier, or be consumed by it.

The solution, Neo-Ark's benefactors' believed, was simple. They would use M.I.S.T. Agent Aya Brea to destroy Eve's defences and go ahead with the step 3 of the plan. All the while, they had Aya believing she was just 'destroying another threat,'. Since she more than capable desposing of neo-mitochondrial creatures and nearly  unquestioningly loyal to her employees. That was another surprise waiting for Eve, one which she dealt with by trying to scare off. In her own erratic little way, she thought it would work, yet the woman kept fighting, edging closer as Eve's allied ANMC's and barriers were eliminated.

Left defenseless, the young clone quickly became a pawn in a grab for power, Nine (the Golem Soldier's leader) on one side, and Aya together with Kyle Madigan (A government mole) on the other. Little did Nine or even Aya know however, that the double agent in their midst had government backing, and that the same government was readying a weaponized satellite in order to level the area, assuming there was no other option. This energy beam came straight down, decimating the town of Dryfield nearby, but only partially damaging Neo-Ark.

While the shelter wasn't completely totaled in the aftermath, the aftershocks forced Nine, instead of Eve, to merge with the large cocoon like factory. That was the last thing Eve saw before she blanked out. Waking up two hours later in a military hospital several miles away, Eve had no recollection of the battle that ensued, nor anything before she woke up. Any and all abilities she could once use with ease, were gone. As for Aya, she adopted the young girl as a younger sister in exchange for her silence (See: gag order). Though this was done by a colleague who could pull strings at the FBI, the sacrifices were Aya's alone. Thanks to her, Eve flourished, moving from cognitive therapy into junior high, then highschool.

The next thing Eve knew, she was rocketed into a new reality, her body slightly older than she remembered it, but hers and hers alone. Intuitively, she realized that the memories her younger self locked away, were starting to filter through into her concious mind. She figured out that things were different, much different, but just how strange it all was, she really had no idea.

PERSONALITY:
Eve was once a timid little critter, a naïve kid who was a little skittish, but very curious and optimistic despite her upbringing. Even post Neo-Ark she was somewhat of a quiet and polite thinker. Eve was able to adapt and learn quickly, but often sought anyone's approval. This was due in large part to her time in Neo-Ark, where pleasing those around her ensured her safety. Even with self-imposed amnesia after PE's epilogue, the conditioning still effected her day-to-day interactions. She was a good kid, and got popular by playing the innocent one, the little blue-eyed sweetheart who warmed up to just about anyone.

Now, after her dream, she still plays the social chameleon to warm up to almost anybody, but she also tries to be a little more guarded, her anxiety and belief that it's the mature thing to do, taking partial control from her submissive conditioning. She's all about appearing 'mature', unlike the little girl who treasured anything pink, and used to sign her name with a curly squiggle at the top of the 'E'.

There are other differences from the little person she left behind too. The main factor is that she remembers much more than any other incarnation of herself has in the past. Not every minute detail, but a lot. She remembers her dreams, her sister, and her birthplace. She can recollect how she once used to use her abilities, and fondly relives quality sister time when she's alone, snug inside her own thoughts. This is great in some respects. It gives her all the more reason to carry on and live up to the example her sister set. In other respects though, it can be downright horrible. Sometimes she might wake up in a cold sweat, other times just seeing a lab coat or having pressure put on her temples can throw her into a panic. If there's one thing quasi-blurred out memories have taught her, it's that fear gains much more traction when there are memories to associate it with.

Genetics and memories aside, her sudden age climb will affect her in a less overt way. Aside from the shock and the subsequent belief that this too might be a dream, Eve Brea will want to live up to the part of 'adult', complete with independence (though this will come to be a love-hate relationship) and reputation of being mature, even when she doesn't know what the 'mature' thing to do is. After all, at heart she's not THAT grown up. She still has those awkward teenage emotions, hormones, and the odd strange mood. Sometimes she may seem aloof or distant, commenting only on what she believes is important. Other times she'll have no problems talking about boys, bands or her interests in drawing and rock music. Only one thing she knows for certain; she wants Aya to be proud, and she wants to make sure the things she remembers, never happen again.

CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS:
AYA BREA: Aya is the most important and influential person in Eve's life. Not only is Aya her only biological relative, but Aya rescued her. She took her in like a wounded bird and nursed her back to health. That sacrifice is something Eve will always remember, and she holds Aya to be the bravest and kindest person she's ever known. Even when Aya's dream self does things she can't explain, or hope to understand, she'd still stand by her sister, thick and thin. Unlike her younger self, though, Eve wants to be independent and will take steps to be such. Now, she wants to understand Aya as a friend as well as caregiver, but to do that, she has to find her first, a task she is resolved to complete.

KYLE MADDIGAN: Kyle is more of a drifter than a steadfast member of Eve's inner circle, but he saved her when she was very young. She's not pre occupied with him as much as she used to be when she was a kid and he'd occasionally check in on Aya and her, but she sees him as what can be good in a man. Her cheeks blush whenever she thinks of his smile. His counterpart in her dream mirrors this.

PIERCE CARRADINE: is Aya's crazy friend, but someone Eve considers hers too. He's nerdy, smart, and he even had his own counterpart running around in her head (known as Mister Blank). Having helped her get over some of her earlier shyness, she is grateful for his company and would pick his brain clean if given half the chance. She wouldn't mention her dream of course, but it wouldn't stop her reflecting on them both fondly.

REAL FRIENDS: In the few years Eve was firmly grounded in reality, her younger self made many friends and aquaintences, soaking up the attention and trying to fit in any way she could. From play dates to school dances she discovered a whole range of social experiences. One in particular happened on a trip to the Natural History Museum, when an exchange student named Emily and her began talking. The two had a lot in common. A past that neither wanted to share. Favorite bands. A silly sense of humor. Several months later, once Eve's 'newness' began to fade and friendships came and went, Emily was there to joke areound and hang out. Emily even joked around with the nickname 'Rib', treating Eve a little like a sister. Her dream counterpart was thus a high one, and the first to meet Eve. Post dream, Eve will want to know if she's ok.

DREAM FRIENDS: Within her self imposed delusion, Eve created several friends out of real life inspirations. These served to either represent a feeling surrounding a person, or protect her from her mind's perceived threats. In this category, Several of Aya's work colleagues became her own friends. Blank and Cray were her buddies, while Gabrielle was her go-to girl. The thought of most of them still makes her smile. Then there's the doctors and physicians who, instead of helping, ended up making things worse. Eve's boss was one representation, the other Hyde Bohr, in the guise of a High One. They were always the bad guys in her mind. Even Aya came out as a High One. The only real person spared from her high-one delusion was Kunihiko Maeda, Aya's friend, who was was instead a perverse smarty pants. All in all these friends served their purpose, eventually. Even though Eve knows this, she sometimes wonders if there's a few lessons to be learnt. The most important of which, would probably be to trust herself more... maybe.

POWERS

SAMPLE - THE AWAKENING:
In the deepest recess of Eve's mind, in a much darker world than either of the ones she'd experienced before, something was pushing the frail blond along a preordained path, until even her head began to hurt, her legs nothing but weak and tired twigs carrying her body onwards, one sluggish step at a time. Around her, Darkness spread out in every direction, blanketing the very fabric of space and time, swallowing her whole. It felt warm... familiar... but heavy. She had no idea where she was, nor where she was going to end up. All she knew was that whatever force that was driving to trudge through the darkness was relentless, unforgiving of her bodies cries or her own confusion.

'Come... Many… friends… live… within…'

As if waiting for the appointed high pitched, feminine voice, Eve's legs finally gave way, stumbling one after the other as her body fell onto something hard, corrugated. It hurt her shoulder, hurt the arm she sacrificed in favor of protecting her torso, but the hard surface was the least of her worries... It was the voice, THAT voice, that felt the most worrisome. She knew where it had come from, and you didn't just happen upon this voice by chance. The other 'Eve', the first, the large transcendant force found you. By then, it was too late to try and help yourself.

'Choose...'

Eve's ears barely registered the three dull thuds as she listened to the voice, humid air seeping into her lungs, stapling the hospital gown to her clammy skin. Several vagrant locks of hair fell roughly around her face as she looked to the ground. There, on the floor, laid three shapes, three items faintly aglow but almost impossible to ignore. Blinking hard she remembered Aya, refusing to shoot her sister, disobeying Hyde. Was this a punishment? A consequence? No, even when Aya was at her angriest she would never, ever have punished her like this. Or made her choose... Why did she even have to choose anyway? Neither the gun or the vest would matter in this place. And the other object, a wand; wasn't that a little silly for a force such as the original Eve? In any other case, it might have even been funny, but not now, not when...

'CHOOSE.'

Something shoved at her back, making Eve jump as her fear became even more palpable. Her senses continued to pick up only herself. Her body turned rigid, too stiff, too scared to run. Even doing as she was told took a lot of courage. It made her wince, gulping down a dry ball of nervous tension as she extended a shaky hand.

'A... alright..."

The first item she held up for inspection was the gun, a heavy lead weight in her hands, but one that conjured up steely memories of bright crimson red strewn across pure white snow. This wasn't for her. Her sister maybe, but not her. It'd hurt too many people, and she'd already made a promise to find another way. Dream or not, this was not her choice. This was not even her second choice.

'Hn.'

Disguarding it away gingerly, gritting her teeth and praying that the voice didn't think she was being difficult, her nervous blue eyes fell to the other objects. A wand or a vest, a vest or a wand. It was almost too easy a choice until it hit her. This wasn't a choice between a kiddies toy and a sheet of Kevlar, this was for keeps, this was... Something else entirely... something that made the decision all the more difficult.

The kevlar vest, intuition told her, was protection. It was for herself, but also for others. The wand on the other hand, had her mitochondria buzzing. She didn't have to guess what the wand alluded too. It was her abilities, or her ability to protect herself and others. Which one was more important and which one better for her, she wasn't sure... Not for a while. Eventually, after a long and lengthy debate, her hand settled on one item and one item alone.

"Chosen." Eve gulped.

It laughed, the end of which trailed on and on and on. Eve's eyes closed to try rid herself of the manical disembodied voice, but when it finally left, her eyes opened to a new world yet again. Sitting up too quickly, she fell back convulsively, shaking and breathing shallowly from the shock of being harshly broken away from the nightmarish delusion. She half expected to see her sister...Or... Hyde? She saw neither, just a different place in a different world. But just how different, she was so ill-equipped to deal with that question, she couldn't have guessed in a million years. Maybe she should have chosen her abilities, the wand, after all.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:
Eve has chosen the path of the Guardian. Her choices have made her a Paladin as she rejected brute strength in favour of the proverbial sheild, and to a lesser degree, magic. Her choice was made primarily through intuition, although her own biology may find magic weaving its way through natural bio-signals counter intuitive, since magic may interfere with the unusual proteins her mitochondria create. Below are the abilities which may be hard to carry out, but can work in some capacity.

HEALTH REGENRATION: Neo-Mitochondria can enhance energy output, regenerating lost cells and triggering chemical reactions within the affected area to 'direct repair' injuries. The only state Eve could not recover from in this manner would be a fatal blow or a severed limb. Unfortunately, this can also require a phenomenal amount of energy. Without enough nutrients to draw energy from, Eve could experience dizziness, fever, extreme hunger pains and fainting spells until an opportunity to rest/recover presents itself.

PYROKENESIS: This ability is easiest to activate because rupturing energy molecules results in easy access energy that naturally converts to heat. However, it also an ability that would be painful and a little unstable to use, especially if attempted on a large enough scale. While it would never be completely pain free due to the heat energy's contact with the outer layer of skin as it exits the body, it would depend on how Eve used it as to how painful.

ELECTRIC BURSTS: Similar to Pyrokenesis, this ability is released from the epidermal layer of skin, formed by breaking the same energy molecules in a timed sequence that stimulates an electric pulse. Resulting bursts can either necrotize targets' skin and organs or deal localized damage in the form of apobiosis - or triggered cell death. The one big draw back is that it will take its toll on nerves which it uses to travel along in order to manifest.

MUTATION: Due to Neo-mitochondria being able to relay genetic blueprints via a back door protein in the cell, this is very energy intensive and would exhaust Eve quickly, especially if done to an adjacent lifeforms. Even Eve’s previous ANMC’s were heavily attributed to a viral strain injected directly into subjects. Growing a tip of a finger or a tooth may be achievable but changing a bunch of rats into giant furballs with teeth would not be at all good for her health. Using it in and of itself would use a lot of her energy reserves and, like healing, would drain her until she became dizzy, faint, headachey and excessively hungry.

SCANNING: Just as organic beings give off heat and slight pulses of energy from their heartbeat, muscle contractions and cellular activity, Neo-Mitochondria can attune themselves to pick up and translate waves as 'presences'. With enough practice this could be further translated as information on the beings' whereabouts and physical state. Scanning some organic creatures may be easier than others, and some completely foreign entities may give off signals that send chills down her spine. In most cases this is a sixth sense that requires little energy when activated.

INVENTORY:
Eve will arrive with nothing more than plain blue panties and a scant hospital gown draped over her hunched shoulders. Tied haphazardly at her back, the drab gown will be nothing more than a thin sheet of cotton with arm holes. Even her underwear, at least trying to regain some of her lost pride, doesn't appear to be any better at protecting her from the elements. Still, sans the cannula that once resided in her arm, sans the medical bracelet, her clothing is the only remaining sign of her time in St Francis Hospital.

NOTES/ASPIRATIONS

Notes: To flesh out some of the world's history I took notes from the book and I have to admit to using a little creative liscence when describing the finer points of the world. This was an attempt to describe a 'world like ours' Some of those came from headcanon, but as much as I could, I tried to rely on something within the games to make a point out of.

Aspirations: I have two main aspirations. As an Arc I'd love to see/experience events which push and pull at Eve's inner turmoil. Trying to make a life vs living and missing the old one. It might also be neat to test her mettle, to throw her somewhere which seems familiar, but just isn't. To see her goals and inhibitions wavering and trying to hold on to what she knows is right. (In other words: bring on the moral dilemmas!)

I'm also really keen to bounce her off various personality types, to see what shenanigans she can get up to.
